LifeCare Ambulance Receives Accreditation

June 1, 2010 --- LifeCare Ambulance Service has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) for its compliance with national standards of excellence.  Of the 13,000 ambulance companies in the USA, LifeCare Ambulance Service is one of only 136 ambulance services to successfully complete the voluntary review process which included completion of a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services (EMS).  LifeCare gained initial accreditation status in 1998 and has undergone re-accreditation reviews every three years.

CAAS is a non-profit organization which was established to encourage and promote quality patient care in America’s medical transportation system.  The primary focus of CAAS standards is high-quality patient care.  This is accomplished by establishing national stands which not only address the delivery of patient care, but also the ambulance service’s total operation and its relationships with other agencies, the general public, and the medical community.  CAAS standards often exceed state or local licensing requirements.

According to Ron Slagell, CEO, “accreditation represents our commitment of quality to our patients and community.  We continuously strive to do our best and we view maintaining accreditation as a measurement of quality service.  Having an outside agency review our entire operations and procedures helps ensure we provide excellence to those who rely on our services.”

“Our staff has been key in our successful completion of the process.  I think it gives the feeling of prestige and pride to work in an accredited ambulance service,” said Steve Frisbie, Director of Operations. “People are proud to work where they know high quality care is provided.  Accreditation helps us continue to improve in the care we deliver.”
